About three weeks ago I held a class with a group from an Assisted Living on Neuro Graphic Art. I see this group each week and we explore varying mediums through a variety of projects. The previous sessions have included acrylic painting, clay, decoupage, cut paper, rubber stamping, watercolors, fiber and more. Designed to be inclusive irregardless of abilities they have been enjoyed greatly by participants. However, the Neurographic project was unique in that many of the people were still talking about it weeks later, and requesting that we do it again.
The approach is designed to relax participants and be more meditative. The process is far more important than the final product. Participants said "They felt as if they'd entered a zone". It seemed to not only relax participants but really left a mark on people's memory. This was particularly impressive in that older people sometimes struggle with short term memory. Above the image may appear to be an abstract scribble but the process proves otherwise and yields fascinating results. If you'd like to experience a Neurographic session feel free to reach out!
